The Symptoms of Periodontal Disease

Posted .

If you think you might be a victim of gum disease, which is also known as periodontal disease, you need to call our office, Orlando Periodontics & Implants, and schedule an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Michael H. Connor. Gum disease is a serious and dangerous dental issue that can not only affect your smile, but it can also affect your entire body. So, please make sure to get it treated as soon as possible. To tell if you have gum disease, you can look for these symptoms:

– Red gums (Gums that are dark in color. Healthy gums should be a light or dark pink color)

– Swollen gums (Gums that are puffy, inflamed, and tender. Healthy gums should be tight and flat)

– Bleeding gums (Gums that bleed when you brush and floss your teeth. They might even bleed when you eat meals and snacks. Bleeding gums are not normal and natural, even if you and many others think they are)

– Receding gums (Gums that move away from the teeth. This usually exposes the tooth roots. Healthy gums should hug the teeth tightly and cover all of the tooth roots)
